The John Deere model 8450 was introduced, along with the 8650 and 8850, in 1982 as replacements for the 40-series four-wheel drive tractors. Efficiency was the focus of Deere`s advertising for these tractor models. Deere promoted the ability of the 8450 to perform planting and cultivation work, the duals could be set to navigate 30-inch crop rows. The 8450 also had a full-power PTO available, along with Load-and-Depth control on the three-point hitch.
